Owners of driving schools in Morocco have expressed deep concern over the new format of the question bank used in the theoretical driving test for obtaining a driving license, considering that this step threatens the stability of the sector and undermines the quality of training provided to candidates.
In a statement addressed to the public, the National Association of Driving School Owners and Road Safety expressed its rejection of the way the new question bank was prepared. The association criticized the exclusion of professionals from the process of drafting its content, which they regarded as a violation of the principle of participation and a setback for the effectiveness of the training system.
The association warned of the potential consequences of this approach, which could lead to the graduation of drivers who lack the necessary competence, due to the reliance on tests that do not adhere to approved references or clear pedagogical foundations.
Among the main issues raised by the association about the new question bank is the inclusion of undocumented data, such as references to traffic accident statistics for 2024 without any reference to an official source. This, according to the statement, renders these questions “impossible” and fails to reflect the true aims of the evaluation process.
Professionals in the sector held the responsible authorities accountable for what they described as a “confusion in vision” and called for an urgent review of the content of the question bank, as well as the establishment of a participatory framework that guarantees the involvement of industry professionals in the development of the training system, in order to ensure road safety and maintain high professionalism in issuing driving licenses.
