The tomb of Sidi Al-Makhfi in Fes continues to capture the attention of locals and visitors, as questions regarding his true identity and historical significance have resurfaced, amidst the lack of precise documents or sources confirming details about his life.
In exclusive statements to Fes News, several residents from the neighborhood near the tomb confirmed that this shrine has been known for generations as a place of blessing and prayer. However, no one is exactly sure who this man, referred to as “Al-Makhfi,” is. One resident, Haj Mohamed (67 years old), said, “We inherited from our ancestors that he is a righteous saint, but there is no unified story about him. All we know are scattered tales told by the elders to the younger generation.”
The question remains open: Will those involved in cultural and heritage matters take action to uncover the mystery of “Sidi Al-Makhfi,” or will this name continue to stand as a symbol of the enigma surrounding a part of Fes’s collective memory?
