115 People Evacuated from Gaza Arrive in Paris

On Friday, April 25th, 115 people evacuated from the Gaza Strip arrived at Paris-Orly Airport, according to Le Figaro. A diplomatic source from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that those evacuated included “French nationals and their dependents, staff from the French Institute in Gaza and their families, and Palestinian figures close to our country.”

This arrival follows the evacuation of 59 people from Gaza to France last week. The total number of people evacuated to France since the October 7, 2023 attacks now stands at 500.

According to Annick Suzor-Weiner, professor emeritus at Paris-Saclay University and vice-president of the Migrants in Higher Education network, those who arrived on Friday, April 25th, included “students who have had scholarships from the French government for about 15 or 18 months, but who had not yet been able to come to pursue their studies in France,” as well as “researchers and artists, welcomed by the PAUSE program, the program for the reception of academics and scientists in exile,” who came “mostly with their families.”

This evacuation comes in the wake of the resumption of the Israeli army’s offensive on the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamist terrorist movement Hamas, the group responsible for the October 7th attacks on Israeli civilians, after a two-month truce.
