The renovation works at Grand Fès Stadium have entered an advanced phase, as technical teams recently began replacing the seating in the VIP stand, signaling the nearing completion of major upgrades. These efforts are part of preparations to host major continental and international football events, most notably the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to images obtained by Fès News Media, the stadium has seen intense activity in recent days, including the installation of new equipment and the modernization of the venue’s internal infrastructure. These works are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at bringing the stadium up to the technical standards required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This renovation falls within the national stadium rehabilitation program, launched under the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in anticipation of Morocco hosting both the 2025 AFCON and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the latter in a joint bid with Spain and Portugal.
Upgrades to Include Lighting, Security, and Hospitality
Upcoming enhancements are also expected to include:
- Improved stadium lighting
- Upgraded surveillance and safety systems
- Modernized locker rooms, media facilities, and hospitality lounges
These improvements aim to align the stadium with the standards of leading sports venues across Africa and the world.
A Landmark for Fès
Inaugurated in 2007, Grand Fès Stadium is one of the most prominent sports facilities in the Fès-Meknes region. It has previously hosted numerous top-tier national league matches as well as international events, such as the Arab Youth Cup and games by the Moroccan Olympic team.
Supporters of local clubs, especially Maghreb de Fès (MAS) fans, have expressed satisfaction with the progress, believing that the stadium’s timely readiness will not only motivate local teams but also enable Fès to welcome prestigious events that reflect the city’s rich history and sporting status.
