Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency Sponsors 800 Orphans and Amputee Children in Gaza

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency launched a large-scale humanitarian initiative in Rabat on Saturday, aimed at sponsoring hundreds of orphaned and amputee Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip, amidst an emergency situation exacerbated by the ongoing violence in the enclave.

The initiative was unveiled during an information meeting attended by the Palestinian Minister of Social Development, Samah Hamad (via video conference), the Director in charge of the Agency’s management, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the President of the Moroccan Association for Supporting Reconstruction in Palestine, Mohamed Jamal Bouzidi, as well as the Ambassador of Palestine to Morocco, Jamal Choubki, and representatives of the Arab diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat.

The program includes the sponsorship of 300 amputee Palestinian children, out of a total of 800 identified by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and 500 orphaned children within the framework of the Maqdessi Orphan Sponsorship Project, which was launched in 2008.

Furthermore, a psychological clinic will be established to provide psychosocial support, with the participation of Moroccan and Palestinian volunteer specialists.

This urgent humanitarian initiative falls within the framework of the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to the Palestinian cause, in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.

On this occasion, an agreement was signed between Mr. Cherkaoui and Mr. Bouzidi, under which the Moroccan Association for Supporting Reconstruction in Palestine grants three million dirhams to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency for the implementation of this action.

Mr. Cherkaoui emphasized that Morocco remains faithful to its principles of active solidarity with the Palestinian people, both politically and diplomatically, as well as on the ground through concrete initiatives. He specifically recalled the recent urgent humanitarian aid that facilitated the delivery of 230 tons of food and water, in addition to 40 tons of medical equipment to Gaza.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the Agency also distributed 3,300 food baskets, provided 30,000 hot meals daily, shipped 4 tons of medicines and medical equipment, as well as 50 medical kits and equipment to the emergency unit of the Al Hilal Al Quds Hospital.

For his part, the Ambassador of Palestine to Morocco praised the continuous work of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Al-Quds and Gaza.

In turn, Mr. Bouzidi expressed his association’s pride in participating in this noble initiative, affirming that the commitment of Moroccan civil society is part of a continuous support for Palestinian resilience and the defense of their legitimate rights.
