Young Moroccan Killed in Knife Attack During Brawl in France, Authorities Launch Investigation

An 18-year-old Moroccan national was killed on Sunday evening in the French city of Chambéry during a violent altercation involving knives, according to statements made by the police and local authorities on Monday.

Security sources reported that the young man was found around 9:00 PM lying on the ground with a stab wound in his back. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transferred to the hospital. The police noted that the victim was in an irregular situation on French territory and was known to the judicial system.

The perpetrators fled the scene, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend them.

The municipality of Chambéry confirmed that the death occurred as a result of “a violent brawl involving several individuals.” The city’s mayor, Thierry Repentin, strongly condemned the incident in a press statement, saying: “Such violence is unacceptable and intolerable.”

He added: “All state resources, through the competent services of the national police, are being mobilized to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy,” stressing the importance of trusting the judicial process to reveal the facts.

Repentin concluded his remarks by calling on the public to exercise maximum restraint, especially in online discourse, given the current lack of confirmed information about the motive behind the killing.
