The Atlas Observatory for Defense and Armament has recently reported new field developments indicating that Algeria has begun constructing several temporary dirt airstrips in the western part of the country, near its border with Morocco.
According to the observatory, these airstrips are suitable for tactical transport aircraft such as the C-130. They are typically used in wartime scenarios to deliver rapid logistical support, transport troops to the frontlines, or evacuate the wounded and fallen soldiers.
The observatory confirmed it has identified a newly built example of such airstrips at the following coordinates: 31°35’32.11″N, 2°56’33.14″W.
These developments come amid ongoing tensions between Morocco and Algeria, raising questions about the potential military objectives behind these moves and their connection to the current geopolitical climate in the region.
