Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi was crowned French League champion on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with his team Paris Saint-Germain, after the Parisian team’s victory over Angers in a match held at the Parc des Princes stadium.
With this title, Hakimi adds a new achievement to his impressive record, as the Moroccan star seeks to achieve more titles, most notably the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.
Paris Saint-Germain secured the French League title six rounds before its conclusion, after defeating Angers in a match that did not witness a high level of excitement, as the Parisian team had their sights set on the Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa.
Paris Saint-Germain players achieved their first goal of the season, winning the French League title, which required them to secure only a draw to retain the title, a feat easily accomplished in the sunny weather and 20-degree Celsius temperature.
Paris Saint-Germain, under the leadership of coach Luis Enrique, demonstrated a high level of harmony and cohesion, as the team did not find much difficulty in achieving victory.
With this victory, Paris Saint-Germain became the second team in French League history to achieve a record of remaining undefeated in their first 28 matches of the season, after Nantes, who achieved this feat in the 1994-1995 season.
Luis Enrique made some changes to the team’s lineup, resting some key players such as Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, and Nuno Mendes, in preparation for the Aston Villa match in the Champions League.
Despite the presence of several key players on the field, the team’s performance was not as fluid and rhythmic as usual.
It seemed that the players’ minds were preoccupied with the Champions League, the ultimate goal for the team this season.
In the French League, Luis Enrique seeks to maintain his team’s level and motivate them during the remaining six matches, as the Spanish coach stated last Friday that he wants to finish the season undefeated.
Enrique said: “There are records that did not interest me until today. But from now on, I don’t think there is a better motivation for us than trying to remain undefeated throughout the season.”
With this statement, Enrique aims to become the first coach in French League history to lead his team to finish the season undefeated.
On the other hand, Angers, who occupy the 14th place in the standings, are suffering from a series of negative results, having lost four consecutive matches, and are only three points away from the relegation zone.
