The Public Prosecution in Tangier decided yesterday, Thursday, to prosecute a young singer on bail after he appeared in a video performing a song containing phrases that promote “alcohol and immorality” in front of a group of minors during an Eid al-Fitr celebration in the “Bir Shifa” neighborhood, part of the Benimellal district.
Reliable sources reported that the judicial police interrogated the suspect after the video, which quickly spread across social media platforms, sparked widespread outrage. In the video, children are seen repeating lines from the song that say: “Kiss and a slap, then fall in the sea… I drink the glass, I get drunk, and forget.”
Children’s rights organizations expressed their strong condemnation of the song’s content and the context in which it was presented, warning of the harmful effect such messages could have on children’s moral values.
The singer is expected to appear before the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in an upcoming session as investigations into the incident continue.
