Mustapha El Moazza, the Governor of Taza Province, has issued strict directives to district chiefs, local officials, and administrative leaders within the province to tighten control over food aid distribution, aiming to prevent its use for premature election campaigns.
According to local sources, the governor sent an official communiqué on Monday, warning against the potential use of illicit electoral funds in aid distribution, particularly during the “Ramadan Basket” campaign. The communiqué highlighted the growing interest of certain political actors in these operations, whether in their official capacities or through affiliated associations, which could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
In this regard, provincial authorities have emphasized the need for rigorous oversight of the aid distribution process, including thorough auditing of food supply chains. This includes scrutinizing procurement documents for essential goods such as flour, sugar, tea, dates, legumes, pasta, and concentrated tomatoes to ensure accountability.
These measures, according to the same sources, aim to guarantee the transparency of humanitarian aid and ensure that it reaches the rightful beneficiaries without any political exploitation. The initiative seeks to uphold the integrity of social programs and prevent their misuse for electoral purposes.
