The concerned authorities have decided to suspend classes on Monday, March 10, in all educational institutions, both public and private, under the Regional Academy of Education and Training in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, due to adverse weather conditions.
Press releases issued by the regional directorates of national education, preschool, and sports in the prefectures and provinces of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region confirmed that this decision was made in light of the bad weather and in accordance with the warning bulletin issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, in coordination with local authorities. The regional directorates of national education called on everyone to “take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and educational and administrative staff.”
The General Directorate of Meteorology had issued an updated orange-level warning bulletin, indicating that heavy rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and local hail, with accumulations ranging between 60 and 90 mm, is expected in Tangier-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Taounate, Taza, Ouazzane, Larache, and Al Hoceima, from midday Sunday until 6 p.m. Monday.
The same source also reported that snowfall, with a thickness ranging between 5 and 10 cm, will affect several provinces of the Kingdom, including Al Hoceima and Chefchaouen, starting from midday Sunday until 11 p.m. Monday.
This decision comes as part of the precautionary measures taken by the authorities to ensure the safety of students and educational staff, especially in light of the challenging weather conditions in the region.
