The Ministry of Equipment and Water Warns of Severe Weather Disruptions and Calls for Caution in Several Regions, including Fes-Meknes

The Ministry of Equipment and Water in the Kingdom of Morocco has issued an important statement warning citizens about expected weather disruptions from the night of Friday, March 7, 2025, until Monday, March 10, 2025. The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts heavy snowfall, heavy rainfall, and strong winds affecting several provinces and regions.

Heavy Snowfall Expected

The mountainous areas above 1500 meters are expected to experience heavy snowfall, with snow depths ranging between 25 and 60 cm. This includes the provinces of Ifrane, Azrou, Beni Mellal, Midelt, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Ksar El Kebir, Sefrou, Taza, Boulemane, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Chichaoua, and Taroudant.

Heavy Rainfall Expected

Several regions are forecast to experience heavy rainfall, with amounts ranging between 25 and 130 mm. This will affect the provinces of Tangier, Tetouan, Al Hoceima, Mohammedia, Essaouira, Ouezzane, Fahs-Anjra, Taounate, Sidi Kacem, Taza, Azrou, Beni Mellal, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Chefchaouen, Ksar El Kebir, Sefrou, Taroudant, Beni Mellal, and Errachidia.

Strong Winds and Sandstorms

Strong winds, accompanied by sandstorms in some areas, are expected, which may affect visibility and increase travel hazards. Affected regions include Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Tangier, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, Salé, Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Berrechid, Settat, Casablanca, Youssoufia, Marrakech, Essaouira, Chichaoua, Al Rahamna, Safi, Ouarzazate, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tinghir, Midelt, Errachidia, and Tata.

  • Prepare Vehicles: It is advisable to check the mechanical condition of the vehicle, adjust the tires, check the lights, heating system, and windshield wipers.
  • Maintain Safe Distances: Keep a safe distance between vehicles to avoid accidents under difficult weather conditions.
  • Avoid Crossing Valleys: Refrain from traveling through valleys or areas prone to sudden floods.
