The Misdemeanor Chamber of the Fes Primary Court issued a ruling on Monday, March 3, 2025, sentencing 11 fans of the Maghreb Fes football team to two months in prison and a fine of 2,000 dirhams each. This comes in connection with their involvement in riots during their team’s match against the Meknes club.
The court also banned the defendants from attending sports matches for six months and ordered them to collectively pay 40,000 dirhams in compensation to the General Directorate of National Security.
Investigations revealed that the defendants were involved in acts of violence and vandalism of public property. They were arrested by security authorities immediately after the match and subjected to the necessary legal procedures before being referred to the judiciary.
This ruling is part of efforts to curb sports-related riots and promote values of discipline and respect in stadiums, especially in light of the recent increase in violence associated with football competitions.
