Text of the Royal Message, Recited by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Toufiq, This Wednesday Evening During the Main News Bulletin on the “Al Oula” TV Channel:
“Praise be to God alone, and prayers and peace be upon our Master, the Messenger of God, his family, and companions.
My dear people,
Since we assumed the supreme Imamate, bound by the covenant of allegiance, we have strived to provide everything necessary for our loyal people to fulfill the conditions of religion—its obligations and traditions, its acts of worship and transactions—in accordance with what God has bestowed upon the Moroccan nation in terms of adherence to the pillars, commitment to confirmed traditions, and the celebration of God’s days, among which is Eid Al-Adha, which will occur in less than four months.
The celebration of this Eid is not merely a passing occasion; it carries profound religious significance, reflecting the deep connection of our loyal subjects to the manifestations of our noble religion and their eagerness to draw closer to God Almighty and strengthen social and family bonds through this glorious occasion.
Our commitment to enabling you to fulfill this religious ritual under the best conditions is accompanied by our duty to consider the climatic and economic challenges facing our country, which have led to a significant decline in livestock numbers.
For this purpose, and taking into account that Eid Al-Adha is a confirmed tradition contingent upon ability, performing it under these difficult circumstances would cause certain harm to large segments of our people, especially those with limited incomes.
Out of the trust placed in us as Commander of the Faithful and the vigilant guardian of the establishment of religious rituals in accordance with necessity and Islamic interest, and in fulfillment of our duty to alleviate hardship and harm and to facilitate ease—as well as in adherence to the words of God Almighty: ‘And He has not placed upon you in the religion any hardship’—we call upon our dear people to refrain from performing the Eid sacrifice ritual this year.
God willing, we will perform the sacrifice on behalf of our people, following the tradition of our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who sacrificed two rams and said: ‘This is for myself, and this is for my nation.’
My dear people,
We call upon you to celebrate Eid Al-Adha, God willing, in accordance with its customary rituals and noble spiritual meanings, including the Eid prayer in mosques and prayer grounds, giving charity, maintaining family ties, and all forms of blessings and gratitude to God for His favors, while seeking reward and divine grace.
‘Say, this is my way; I invite to God with insight—I and those who follow me.’ Truly, God is Great.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.”
