Temporary Prayer Space Prepared for Taraweeh in Fez After Mosque Demolition

Fes News has learned from a reliable source that local authorities are currently preparing a dedicated space for Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan at the former site of Moulay Idriss I Mosque on Imouzzer Road in Fez. The mosque was previously demolished following an expert report confirming that structural cracks had made it a safety hazard for worshippers and residents.

In response to the community’s needs, a large portion of the former mosque’s area has been paved to create a suitable prayer space, given that the mosque was the closest place of worship for many residents. Additionally, lighting improvements are underway to ensure a comfortable environment for worshippers, with the space expected to be ready in the coming days ahead of Ramadan.

This temporary measure comes as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public safety and provide proper facilities for religious practices, while awaiting approval for the construction of a new mosque on the site in the future.
