An investor seeking to establish a tourist lodge in the Fes prefecture revealed the extent of the administrative obstacles he faced, ultimately forcing him to abandon his project and relocate to Marrakech.
In an exclusive statement to Fes News, the investor said:
“I applied for a permit to build a tourist lodge, but my request was denied on the grounds that the land was collective property. I then decided to purchase an apartment in Fes to launch a different project, but my request was rejected again due to alleged issues with the housing permit. Faced with these obstacles, I had no choice but to leave the city and move to Marrakech, where I found the administration to be more supportive of investment rather than obstructing it.”
He added that the rigid interpretation of laws by some administrative bodies significantly hampers investment, driving entrepreneurs to seek out cities that are more open to economic projects.
This testimony aligns with a previous Fes News report indicating that Fes has become increasingly challenging for investors due to bureaucracy and restrictive legal interpretations, where permit rejections seem to be the norm rather than an exception.
Fes News continues to closely follow this issue, gathering further testimonies to highlight this phenomenon, which directly impacts the local economy and the future of investment in the city.
