In a surprising move, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the immediate suspension of the Congolese Football Federation (Congo-Brazzaville). This decision results in the suspension of all national teams and Congolese clubs from participating in any international competitions until further notice.
FIFA’s decision comes after detecting external interference in the affairs of the local federation, a clear violation of FIFA regulations, which mandate the independence of national football associations. In an official statement, FIFA stated that such interventions have led to an unacceptable situation that contradicts existing football governance rules, prompting this decisive action in coordination with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to FIFA sources, joint delegations from both FIFA and CAF were sent to Brazzaville to conduct a thorough investigation into the crisis. After carefully assessing the findings, FIFA imposed the immediate suspension, which will remain in effect until the Congolese Federation rectifies the violations and fully complies with international football regulations.
This decision carries significant sporting consequences, notably the exclusion of the Congolese national team from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. As a result, their upcoming match against Morocco, scheduled for October 11, 2025, in the tenth round of the qualifiers, has been canceled.
