CAF Fines AS FAR 15,000 Dollars

The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed two financial penalties on the Moroccan club AS FAR, totaling 15,000 US dollars. This decision came in response to the behavior of the team’s supporters during their match against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the African Champions League.

The Moroccan club was fined 5,000 dollars due to its fans’ use of flares during the match held on December 7, 2024. Additionally, the committee imposed an extra fine of 10,000 dollars on the Rabat-based team for their supporters’ use of laser pointers during the game.

It’s worth noting that the aforementioned match, which took place at the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida as part of the second round of the African Champions League group stage, ended in a 1-1 draw. The South African team opened the scoring through Iqraam Rayners in the 66th minute, before Mohamed Hrimat equalized for the Moroccan team in the 78th minute.

These sanctions come as part of the CAF Disciplinary Committee meeting to review several incidents that occurred during African club competitions, as well as the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
