In a press conference held on December 26, 2024, following the government council meeting, government spokesperson Mustafa Baitas presented several important statements regarding government actions and its commitment to implementing the outcomes of the social dialogue.
Baitas clarified that the government had approved new wage increases in both the public and private sectors. He noted that the minimum wage in non-agricultural sectors would increase by 5% starting January 1, 2025. The monthly net salary in non-agricultural sectors will range from 2,680 dirhams to 3,045.96 dirhams after the anticipated increase. Agricultural activities will also see another increase, with the daily wage rising to 93 dirhams starting April 1, 2025.
Baitas emphasized that these increases are part of the government’s commitment to implementing the results of the social dialogue and highlighted that the government continues to work on strengthening social protection policies. He mentioned that the total public costs related to the social dialogue in the 2025 Finance Bill amount to approximately 20 billion dirhams.
Regarding improvements in citizens’ social conditions, Baitas pointed out that in recent years, there has been a significant increase in wages, with the minimum net wage rising from 3,000 dirhams to 4,500 dirhams, a 50% increase.
Baitas added that these measures are part of the ongoing reforms aimed at improving living standards and enhancing social stability. He reiterated that the government would continue its efforts to improve public services and develop mechanisms that serve all social groups.
Looking ahead, Baitas noted that one of the government’s future directions will focus on strengthening the role of the private sector and achieving sustainable development by boosting investment and creating new job opportunities.
