Under the leadership of Ms. Bouthaina Qarouri, President of the Forum for Moroccan Women, the Fifth Edition of the Fatima al-Fihri Award for Advancing Women’s Status and Achieving Gender Equality is currently being held at the Conference Palace in Fes. This edition marks the first time the event is held in Morocco, in partnership with the French-Tunisian Mediterranean 21 Program Association.
The event is attended by prominent figures from several countries, including Morocco, Tunisia, Indonesia, and Bulgaria, as a group of creative women are honored for their pivotal role in improving women’s status and gender equality in various fields such as education, health, economics, and human rights.
The ceremony highlights the achievements of the honorees in advancing women’s rights locally and internationally, providing a platform for sharing successful experiences and best practices in women’s empowerment. Through this award, the Forum aims to promote international cooperation to develop policies that support women’s rights and contribute to comprehensive and sustainable development.
The award is named after Fatima al-Fihri, the founder of Al-Qarawiyyin University, who is a symbol of gender equality in education. This event reflects Morocco’s commitment to enhancing women’s status and gender equality globally.
