The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Amine Tehraoui, made a significant work visit to the Eastern Region on Monday, December 9, 2024. During this visit, he chaired the regular session of the board of directors of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Oujda and oversaw the inauguration of 15 new health centers in the region.
During the board meeting, the hospital center’s achievements were reviewed, and the implementation of previous decisions was evaluated. Additionally, the work plan for the 2023-2025 period and the 2025 budget were discussed. The Minister praised the efforts of the center’s staff and their role in implementing the royal vision for health system reform.
As part of strengthening the health infrastructure in the region, Minister Tehraoui launched the services of 15 urban and rural health centers distributed across various provinces of the Eastern Region. These centers include an urban health center in Oujda, five centers in the Driouch province, eight centers and dispensaries in the Nador province, and a health center in the Jerada province.
This initiative comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health’s policy to upgrade health infrastructure throughout the kingdom, in implementation of the royal directives concerning the reform of the national health system and the generalization of social protection and universal health coverage.
These new health centers are characterized as next-generation facilities, offering diverse health services including general medical consultations, nursing care, chronic disease monitoring, maternal and child health, school health, as well as awareness and sensitization services.
The Ministry of Health has ensured that these centers are equipped with the latest medical equipment and provided with an integrated information system that facilitates patient guidance and provides them with an electronic medical file. Qualified medical, nursing, and administrative staff have been appointed to ensure the provision of high-quality health services to more than 145,000 people in the area.
These initiatives reflect the Moroccan government’s commitment to improving health services and bringing them closer to citizens, contributing to enhancing the quality of healthcare and achieving universal health coverage throughout the kingdom.
