Saudi Arabia Hosts Moroccan Delegation Led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch for Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

On the evening of Sunday, November 10, 2024, the Saudi capital of Riyadh welcomed a high-level Moroccan delegation led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch. Representing King Mohammed VI, Akhannouch is participating in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, which aims to address recent regional developments and the challenges facing the Arab and Islamic world.

The Moroccan delegation was received at King Khalid International Airport by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region, in a gesture reflecting the deep ties between Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

Accompanying the Prime Minister is a Moroccan delegation that includes Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, as well as key diplomatic officials such as Mohamed Ait Ali, Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Mostafa Mansouri, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

This summit comes at a critical time, with the region facing numerous challenges, including the intensifying Gaza conflict and its repercussions in Lebanon, further complicating the security and strategic landscape. The summit aims to unify member states’ positions on these developments and work towards stabilizing the region to ensure peace and security.

The summit officially opens on Monday amid significant regional and international interest. A preliminary meeting was held today among participating ministers to discuss key agenda items that will guide leaders in formulating a unified stance on the current tensions.
