A police officer from the Marrakech Security Directorate was compelled to use his service weapon in a warning shot early this Saturday morning, November 9, to apprehend two individuals who were in an abnormal state and posed serious threats to the safety of citizens and police officers by wielding knives and committing violent assaults with a motor vehicle.
A motorcycle police patrol intervened during the early hours of the morning to detain the suspects, who were under the influence of drugs and creating chaos in the “Gueliz” neighborhood while carrying knives. One suspect was apprehended at the scene, where a knife was confiscated, while the second attempted to flee on a motorcycle, resulting in a fatal accident after colliding with a worker engaged in public works.
Despite attempts to escape, the second suspect violently resisted one of the police officers using a large knife, which forced the officer to use his service weapon as a precautionary measure. This action helped neutralize the threat posed by the suspect, who was later arrested during a security operation in the outskirts of Marrakech.
Currently, both suspects are being held under police custody as part of an investigation conducted by the Marrakech Judicial Police under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at determining all criminal acts attributed to them.
