The Ministry of Health of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday a new increase in the number of Palestinian casualties since the start of the war with Israel, which has entered its eleventh month.
According to the statement issued by the ministry, the total number of deaths in Gaza has reached 40,405 people since the conflict began on October 7 last year. The ministry also reported that the number of injured has risen to 93,468 people during the same period.
The ministry added that at least 71 people have lost their lives since Saturday, which was the date of the last casualty count released.
This update comes amid ongoing hostilities in the Gaza Strip, raising increasing concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region. International organizations and the global community continue their calls for a ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The rising death toll underscores the severe impact of the prolonged conflict on the civilian population in Gaza. The situation remains critical, with humanitarian agencies struggling to provide essential aid and medical care to those affected by the ongoing violence.
As the conflict persists, there is growing international pressure for diplomatic efforts to bring about a lasting solution and address the urgent humanitarian needs of the people in Gaza.
