On Saturday, August 10, 2024, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency organized an interactive workshop in Tangier, Morocco, focusing on protection mechanisms against the risks of social media and the internet. The workshop targeted children from Jerusalem participating in the fifteenth session of the summer camp.
Experts from the Digital Development Agency led the workshop, providing children with theoretical information about the dangers of excessive use of social media and the internet, along with interactive exercises using special applications.
This year’s summer camp is named “Yaqub Al-Mansur Al-Muwahhidi” in honor of one of the Almohad kings of Morocco for his role in supporting Sultan Saladin during the conquest of Acre and Jerusalem in the 12th century CE.
The camp is organized under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and continues until August 25. The program includes educational trips to various Moroccan cities, as well as recreational activities and competitions.
Fifty children from Jerusalem, aged between 11 and 14, are benefiting from this session. In parallel with this camp, the agency launched a summer schools program in Jerusalem for 4,000 children, distributed across 17 schools and clubs in various neighborhoods and villages of the governorate.
This year’s summer schools program focuses on play and entertainment, with additional segments for psychological support, awareness, and training in first aid and rescue operations supervised by professional trainers.
These initiatives reflect Morocco’s ongoing interest in supporting the children of Jerusalem and enhancing their abilities to face various challenges, including digital risks.
The workshop and the broader summer program underscore the importance of educating young people about online safety while also providing them with cultural and educational experiences. This approach aims to empower Jerusalem’s youth with both digital literacy and a strong sense of cultural identity.
