The city of Sefrou witnessed a great cultural event, organizing a grand ceremony that saw the parade of the “Queen of the Love of Kings” and her bridesmaids, while a large number of the city’s residents and guests gathered.
In the presence of dignitaries including the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and the Governor of Fez-Meknès, Said Zniber, the ceremony was a highlight of the Love of Kings Festival, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The procession was characterized by elaborate artistic performances, whose paintings embodied the traditional folklore of the city of Sefrou and its surroundings, and the chariot of the Queen of the Love of Kings and her bridesmaids topped the celebration scene, as the audience waited eagerly for her passage as in previous editions.
In a statement to the media, Mr. Mehdi Bensaid stressed the importance of this cultural event, which is considered a model demonstration of the attention paid by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the cultural field, which is linked to development and youth.
The minister noted the importance of the historical and heritage city of Sefrou, which is a symbol of coexistence, and appreciated the contribution of its inhabitants to the success of this prominent festival.
Over the course of the first day of the festival, the exhibition space was opened in partnership with the Safrou Collective Council, where books and local products including the production and processing of cherry fruit were showcased, giving a positive boost to the city’s cultural, tourism and economic activities.
The Love of Kings Festival in Safrou, listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012, is an opportunity to celebrate the cultural, economic and social diversity of the region, fostering communication and coexistence between different cultures and customs.
At the end of the event, there was an opportunity to revitalize the local economy and promote traditional industries and local products, thus contributing to the economic and social sustainability of the city.
