On the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council in preparation for the 33rd Arab Summit, on Tuesday, 14 May 2024, in Manama, Nasser Bourita held talks with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, Mohammed Mustafa.
During this meeting, Bourita reiterated the firm position of the Kingdom of Morocco, led by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, on the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the borders of 4 June 1967.
In this regard, he reiterated Morocco’s rejection and condemnation of the blatant aggression and all Israeli violations and provocations in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
These provocative actions and grave violations constitute a flagrant violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, and a factor of escalation that can only undermine truce efforts, he said.
The Israeli military operation in the city of Rafah, which enabled Israel to control the Palestinian part of the Rafah crossing, represents a serious threat to the lives of more than a million Palestinians, he stressed, adding that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, emphasises the importance of reaching an immediate, urgent and lasting ceasefire and refraining from any action that would undermine the ongoing efforts to reach an agreement allowing progress in the arrangements for the exchange of hostages and detainees.
Bourita also reiterated Morocco’s total rejection of all forms of forced displacement, collective punishment and reprisals against the Palestinian people, stressing the need for adequate and unhindered humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the sustainability of UNRWA’s services for the Palestinian people.
The Ministers said that the increase in systematic attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank, instigated by Israeli government officials, is fuelling the conflict and undermining efforts towards peace.
Similarly, Israeli provocations and illegal measures aimed at changing the legal and cultural status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, are exacerbating the escalation and the cycle of violence.
In this regard, Bourita said that Morocco, whose HM King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, chairs the Al-Quds Committee, strongly condemns the closure of the Mughrabi Gate today, after a group of Israeli extremists stormed the courtyard of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and raised the Israeli flag.
For his part, Mohammed Mustafa praised Morocco’s firm and solidarity position with the Palestinian cause under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, praising Morocco’s firm and solidarity position with the Palestinian cause. He also highly appreciated the initiatives and actions undertaken by Bait Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, to support the holy city and strengthen the steadfastness of its inhabitants.
The two ministers also affirmed the determination of the two countries to continue cooperation, coordination and consultation at various levels, in accordance with the joint vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI Nasrallah, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and HE President Mahmoud Abbas, in the framework of the joint vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI Nasrallah, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
