The education sector in Morocco will witness a comprehensive nationwide strike called for by the education trade union coordinators, in an expression of their rejection of the decisions to suspend a number of teachers for their participation in the recent protests.
This escalation comes to cast a shadow on the course of the educational process, as it is feared that studies will be disrupted in all educational institutions on a national level.
The teachers’ unions are demanding a review of the suspension decisions, and are also calling for an improvement in working conditions and teachers’ salaries.
It is worth noting that this strike comes after the failure of rounds of dialogue between the Ministry of National Education and the teachers’ unions to reach solutions that satisfy all parties.
