The Court of Appeal in Casablanca continued the trial of Reda Abakrim, known as “Turbo,” accused of killing a French youth in 2007 and burying him in a forest there. The session was adjourned to May 27 to bring the accused to court.
“Turbo” is a well-known figure in Morocco, having been accused of kidnapping, torturing, and murdering the husband of Moroccan singer Rime Fakri in Casablanca. He was previously sentenced in absentia by a French court to 20 years in prison for the murder of Ibrahim Hajaji, one of his assistants, in France in 2007.
During Monday’s session, the defense representing Ibrahim Hajaji’s family requested the inclusion of Turbo’s partner in the crime in the case, as he was convicted in France for the same case. The defense also requested Turbo’s presence in court for the appeal session.
It is alleged that Turbo killed Hajaji with the help of two of his assistants after Hajaji stole a large quantity of hashish.
A French court sentenced Turbo to 21 years in prison in absentia, but he was acquitted in a Moroccan trial in 2020.
This trial is part of a series of legal pursuits faced by Turbo in both Morocco and France, highlighting the complexity of criminal networks and the seriousness of drug-related crimes.
