Morocco – Officers from the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ), acting on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested six Algerian nationals on Thursday and Friday, June 25 and 26, on suspicion of belonging to a criminal network involved in document forgery, the use of forged documents, identity theft, illegal residency, and drug trafficking.
The investigation began with the arrest of an Algerian national who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, issued at the request of the Algerian judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking within an organized criminal network. Authorities also found forged residency documents in his possession.
Further investigations enabled investigators to identify and arrest five additional Algerian suspects. Preliminary findings indicate that they were involved in forging residency permits and criminal record certificates issued by Algerian authorities, as well as producing documents attributed to fictitious companies. These documents were allegedly used to fraudulently obtain Moroccan residence permits in an attempt to evade international judicial proceedings.
Searches conducted as part of the investigation resulted in the seizure of several foreign passports, ten forged official stamps, counterfeit documents, a laptop computer, and mobile phones believed to contain digital evidence related to the criminal activities.
Police also seized two passenger vehicles suspected of being used to facilitate the illegal operations, in addition to a checkbook and significant sums of money believed to be proceeds of the criminal network.
The suspects have been placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office. The judicial investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances surrounding the case, identify the full extent of the criminal network, and locate any additional individuals who may have been involved.
