Rabat – Le Maroc a acheminé une première cargaison de neuf tonnes de matériel médical et logistique à la Mission de l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en République démocratique du Congo (MONUSCO), afin de soutenir les efforts de lutte contre l’épidémie d’Ebola qui touche actuellement la province de l’Ituri, dans l’est du pays.
Selon un communiqué de la MONUSCO, un avion C-130H des Forces Armées Royales marocaines a atterri le 22 juin 2026 à l’aéroport de Bunia avec à son bord des médicaments, des équipements de protection individuelle, du matériel de laboratoire et de diagnostic, des produits de désinfection ainsi que des équipements destinés à la surveillance des patients.
Le communiqué précise que cette assistance sera destinée aux personnels civils et militaires de la MONUSCO, notamment à l’hôpital de niveau II géré par le contingent marocain, afin de renforcer les capacités de prévention et de prise en charge des cas potentiels, tout en garantissant la continuité des opérations de la mission onusienne dans la région touchée par l’épidémie.
Le commandant du secteur Nord de la MONUSCO, le général Saif Al-Islam Bouyan, a déclaré que cette aide marocaine permettra aux forces de maintien de la paix de poursuivre leurs missions de protection des civils malgré la propagation du virus Ebola dans la région.
La mission des Nations Unies a également annoncé qu’un second vol est prévu dans les prochains jours afin d’acheminer du matériel supplémentaire, ainsi que le déploiement d’une équipe médicale marocaine spécialisée pour renforcer les opérations de réponse sur le terrain.
De leur côté, les autorités de la République démocratique du Congo ont salué cette initiative. Ronnie Ngamba, représentant de la Direction générale de la protection civile, a exprimé sa reconnaissance pour le soutien apporté par le Maroc dans la lutte contre cette crise sanitaire.
Ebola Response: Morocco Sends 9 Tons of Medical Equipment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Rabat – Morocco has dispatched an initial shipment of nine tons of medical and logistical equipment to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) in support of efforts to combat the Ebola outbreak affecting Ituri Province in the eastern part of the country.
According to a statement issued by MONUSCO, a Royal Moroccan Armed Forces C-130H aircraft landed at Bunia Airport on June 22, 2026, carrying medicines, personal protective equipment (PPE), laboratory and diagnostic supplies, disinfection materials, and equipment for patient monitoring.
The statement explained that the assistance will be allocated to both civilian and military personnel serving within the UN mission, particularly the Level II hospital operated by the Moroccan contingent, with the aim of strengthening prevention measures, improving the management of potential Ebola cases, and ensuring the continuity of the mission’s operations in the affected region.
The commander of MONUSCO’s Northern Sector, General Saif Al-Islam Bouyan, stated that the Moroccan assistance will enable UN peacekeeping forces to continue protecting civilians despite operating in an area affected by the Ebola outbreak.
The UN mission also announced that a second flight is scheduled in the coming days to deliver additional equipment, along with the deployment of a specialized Moroccan medical team to reinforce field response efforts.
For their part, authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo welcomed the initiative. Ronnie Ngamba, a representative of the General Directorate of Civil Protection, praised Morocco’s support for the country’s efforts to address the ongoing public health crisis.
