Maroc – Les éléments de la police judiciaire de Berkane ont procédé, ce jeudi 25 juin 2026, sur la base de renseignements précis fournis par la Direction générale de la surveillance du territoire (DGST), à l’interpellation d’un individu se réclamant de l’organisation terroriste « Daech », soupçonné de préparer des projets terroristes visant la sécurité du Royaume et la sûreté de ses citoyens, selon un communiqué du Bureau Central d’Investigations Judiciaires (BCIJ).
Le BCIJ a précisé que cette opération s’inscrit dans le cadre des efforts préventifs visant à lutter contre les menaces terroristes, à faire face aux risques liés à l’extrémisme violent et à renforcer la sécurité intérieure du Royaume.
D’après les premiers éléments de l’enquête, le suspect aurait récemment prêté allégeance à l’autoproclamé « émir » de l’organisation Daech et projetait de mener des attaques terroristes contre des personnes et des infrastructures sensibles, dans le cadre de ce que le groupe qualifie de « jihad individuel », après avoir échoué à rejoindre les rangs de l’organisation dans la région du Sahel.
Le suspect a été placé en garde à vue dans le cadre de l’enquête judiciaire menée par le Bureau Central d’Investigations Judiciaires, sous la supervision du parquet compétent en matière de terrorisme, afin d’identifier toutes les ramifications potentielles de cette activité extrémiste et de déterminer d’éventuels liens avec des organisations terroristes au Maroc ou à l’étranger.
Cette intervention s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’approche préventive adoptée par les services de sécurité marocains pour faire face aux menaces terroristes, à travers la détection précoce et la neutralisation des projets susceptibles de porter atteinte à la sécurité et à la stabilité du Royaume.
Berkane: BCIJ Arrests ISIS Supporter Suspected of Preparing a Terrorist Plot Targeting Morocco
Morocco – Judicial police officers in Berkane, acting on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested an individual on Thursday, June 25, 2026, suspected of supporting the terrorist organization ISIS and preparing terrorist plots targeting the security of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens, according to a statement issued by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ).
The BCIJ stated that the operation forms part of Morocco’s preventive counterterrorism strategy aimed at combating terrorist threats, addressing the risks of violent extremism, and strengthening the Kingdom’s internal security.
According to the preliminary findings of the investigation, the suspect had recently pledged allegiance to the self-proclaimed leader of ISIS and was allegedly planning terrorist attacks targeting individuals and critical infrastructure as part of what the group refers to as “individual jihad,” after reportedly failing to join ISIS members operating in the Sahel region.
The suspect has been placed in police custody as part of the judicial investigation being conducted by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office specializing in terrorism cases. The investigation aims to identify any possible extensions of the suspect’s extremist activities and determine whether there are links to terrorist organizations operating inside or outside Morocco.
The security operation is part of the proactive approach adopted by Moroccan security services to counter terrorist threats through early detection and the disruption of plots that could threaten the Kingdom’s security and stability.
