Le Maroc a vu, dans le cadre de la vingt-deuxième édition des manœuvres “African Lion 2026”, plusieurs hauts responsables des Forces Armées Royales recevoir la médaille américaine “Legion of Merit”, l’une des plus hautes distinctions militaires américaines accordées aux personnalités militaires étrangères.
During the twenty-second edition of the “African Lion 2026” military exercises, several senior officials of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces were honored by the United States with the “Legion of Merit” medal, one of the highest American military decorations awarded to foreign military figures.

Selon un communiqué de l’État-Major Général des Forces Armées Royales, le Général de Corps d’Armée Mohammed Berrid, Inspecteur Général des Forces Armées Royales et Commandant de la Zone Sud, a reçu le Général américain Dagvin Anderson, commandant du Commandement militaire américain pour l’Afrique “AFRICOM”, au siège de l’État-Major de la Zone Sud, dans le cadre d’une visite officielle au Maroc coïncidant avec l’exercice “African Lion 2026”.
According to a statement issued by the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, welcomed U.S. General Dagvin Anderson, commander of the United States Africa Command “AFRICOM,” at the Southern Zone headquarters during an official visit to Morocco coinciding with the “African Lion 2026” exercise.

Les discussions ont porté sur les différents aspects de la coopération militaire entre le Royaume du Maroc et les États-Unis d’Amérique, notamment les exercices opérationnels conjoints, en particulier les manœuvres “African Lion” organisées conjointement depuis 2004 dans le cadre d’un partenariat militaire continu entre les deux pays.
The meeting focused on various aspects of military cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, especially joint operational exercises, notably the “African Lion” maneuvers that have been jointly organized since 2004 as part of an ongoing military partnership between the two countries.

À cette occasion, le Général de Corps d’Armée Mohammed Berrid ainsi que le Général de Brigade Mohsen Bensira, chef du troisième bureau de l’État-Major de la Zone Sud, ont été décorés de la médaille “Legion of Merit” en reconnaissance de leur contribution au renforcement de la coopération militaire maroco-américaine.
On the same occasion, General Mohammed Berrid and Brigadier General Mohsen Bensira, head of the Third Bureau of the Southern Zone Staff, were awarded the “Legion of Merit” medal in recognition of their contribution to strengthening Moroccan-American military cooperation.

Les décorations ont été remises lors d’une cérémonie officielle présidée par le commandant d’AFRICOM, le Général Dagvin Anderson, au nom du Secrétaire américain à la Défense, selon le communiqué militaire.
The medals were presented during an official ceremony led by AFRICOM commander General Dagvin Anderson on behalf of the U.S. Secretary of Defense, according to the military statement.

Les manœuvres “African Lion” figurent parmi les plus importantes opérations militaires multinationales du continent africain. Elles réunissent des forces de plusieurs pays et visent à renforcer la coordination opérationnelle ainsi que l’échange d’expertises dans les domaines de la sécurité, de la défense et de la lutte contre les menaces régionales.
The “African Lion” exercises are considered among the largest multinational military drills on the African continent. They involve forces from several countries and aim to strengthen operational coordination and exchange expertise in the fields of security, defense, and countering regional threats.
