According to data released by specialized sources, this batch includes seven modern combat helicopters, which have been transported to their main base and integrated into military aviation units, in a move reflecting the accelerated pace of air capability development and the enhancement of the Royal Armed Forces’ readiness.
This delivery comes under a military agreement signed in 2020 between Morocco and the United States, which provides for the acquisition of 24 helicopters of this model, as part of an advanced strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of security and defense.
These helicopters feature advanced technology, including the “Longbow” radar capable of detecting and tracking targets in complex combat conditions, and the M-TADS/PNVS targeting system that enables operations day and night, in addition to weapon capabilities that include up to 16 “Hellfire” missiles, 76 guided missiles, and a 30mm cannon equipped with approximately 1,200 rounds of ammunition, as well as an advanced armor system to withstand enemy fire.
This advanced aerial system will enable Morocco to enhance its attack and close air support capabilities, with the ability to operate within an integrated combat system, particularly through coordination with F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets and M142 HIMARS missile systems, which are part of the Kingdom’s military arsenal.
The integration of these helicopters into the Royal Armed Forces reflects a strategic shift toward building a modern military force based on technology and operational integration, thereby strengthening Morocco’s position as a key ally of the United States outside of NATO, in light of regional and international security shifts.
This program is part of the royal directives aimed at modernizing the Royal Armed Forces and developing their defense capabilities, in line with current challenges and to enhance the Kingdom’s readiness at the regional and international levels.
In March 2025, Morocco received the first batch of these helicopters, comprising six Apache AH-64E helicopters, during an official ceremony held at the First Air Base in Salé, attended by the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, Lieutenant General Mohamed Briz, and the Inspector of the Royal Air Force, General de Division Mohamed Kadid, as well as a high-level U.S. delegation led by General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and a representative of the U.S. Embassy in Morocco.
This new delivery underscores the continued momentum of military cooperation between Rabat and Washington through the implementation of advanced armament and modernization programs aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s defense capabilities and consolidating its strategic partnership with the United States.
