Rabat, Morocco – Upon instructions from Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, President of the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child (ONDE), the Observatory activated the “National Mechanism for Psychological Care for Children’s Psychological Trauma” (DNPTE) to provide necessary support to a child who was a victim of rape in the city of El Jadida.
To this end, the Observatory made a specialized child psychiatrist available to the victim, aiming to ensure appropriate and prompt psychological support and to prevent any negative repercussions the incident might have on his mental health.
In a statement, the Observatory clarified that it has been closely monitoring all measures taken to protect the child since the incident occurred.
It is worth noting that the “DNPTE” mechanism was established on high instructions from Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem in October 2023. This mechanism is tasked with providing psychological support to children under 18 who are victims of natural or man-made disasters, or other events that could leave deep psychological scars.
