Moroccan Media Loses One of Its Pillars: The Death of Journalist Ali Hassan

Rabat, Morocco – On Monday, August 25, 2025, the Moroccan media scene lost one of its most prominent figures, the former journalist and producer for the “Al-Aoula” (First Channel), Ali Hassan, who was renowned for his pioneering cinematic programs, especially “Cinema Al-Khamis” (Thursday Cinema).

A source from the deceased’s family confirmed to SNRTnews that he passed away this Monday morning at a hospital in Rabat, following a distinguished career that spanned more than half a century.

Ali Hassan began his professional journey in 1964 at the Moroccan Radio and Television (RTM), where he worked as a news anchor for both television and radio broadcasts. He later transitioned to hosting specialized programs, which established him as one of the key voices that accompanied the development of the Moroccan audiovisual landscape.

The late journalist cemented his place in the hearts of Moroccans through his hosting and production of the show “Cinema Al-Khamis” from 1991 to 2003, where he combined presentation and analysis to introduce audiences to Moroccan and international cinematic works. He continued to pursue his passion for cinema with the program “Cinema Club” from 2003 to 2014, which kept the public connected to new cinematic releases and classic films.

In addition to his television work, Ali Hassan hosted his radio program “Entr’Acte” for years, reinforcing his presence as a specialized and trusted voice in Moroccan cinema.
