Major Security Reshuffle in Casablanca: New Appointments for Uniformed Police Leadership in Anticipation of Future Challenges

Casablanca – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced today, Sunday, August 10th, a new series of internal appointments affecting several heads of urban security districts within the Casablanca Prefecture of Police. This move is part of an ongoing strategy aimed at renewing the security administration and boosting its operational efficiency.

Under the decisions endorsed by the Director General of National Security, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, new chiefs have been appointed to a number of vital security districts in the city. The appointments cover the Al Fida-Mers Sultan, Hay Hassani, Errahma, Ben M’sick, and Moulay Rachid security areas, in addition to the Regional Security District of the city of Mohammedia. These changes primarily affect senior officers within the uniformed police branch.

The objective of this leadership change is to inject new dynamism and enhance the performance of the urban security districts, which play a pivotal role in securing public spaces. These districts are responsible for a range of sensitive and diverse duties, including managing police patrol units, securing sensitive facilities and public areas, and responding rapidly to emergencies, among other public security tasks. Through this reshuffle, the DGSN aims to strengthen the capacity to meet daily challenges and respond to the public’s demand for effective and reliable security and police services.

These appointments are part of a broader context in which the DGSN is implementing ambitious work plans focused on improving the efficiency and productivity of its human resources. This is achieved by entrusting leadership positions to highly qualified and well-trained security professionals, ensuring a modern and effective management of the police public service.

The timing of these appointments is particularly significant, as they come as Morocco prepares to host several major international events, most notably the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This necessitates bolstering security readiness and providing field-level leadership capable of managing these events with the utmost professionalism and competence to guarantee their success and safety.
