Security elements affiliated with the Tangier Prefecture of Police succeeded today, Sunday, August 10th, in arresting a 23-year-old Dutch national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Belgian judicial authorities.
According to security sources, the suspect was apprehended in one of Tangier’s neighborhoods. A cross-reference with the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) revealed that he was internationally wanted based on the Belgian arrest warrant.
The individual is suspected of being linked to the activities of a criminal gang involved in committing theft under threat of violence and the kidnapping of an infant. These are serious offenses classified as transnational organized crime.
The suspect has been placed under police custody pending extradition proceedings. Concurrently, the Belgian security authorities have been notified of the arrest in preparation for the formal submission of the extradition file.
This arrest comes within the framework of international security cooperation and reflects the ongoing efforts made by Moroccan security services to track internationally wanted persons involved in cross-border crime, highlighting the readiness of Morocco’s security system to handle such complex cases.
