Throne Day 2025: A major royal pardon initiative touches the hearts of those in need of mercy

On the occasion of the glorious Throne Day, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, graciously issued his royal pardon for a large group of individuals, totaling 19,673 persons convicted by various courts across the Kingdom. This group includes 2,415 prisoners and those already at liberty, as well as 17,258 convicted persons selected based on specific criteria in a compassionate initiative reflecting the King’s mercy and special care for this segment of society.

The Ministry of Justice issued an official statement detailing this pardon. Among those benefiting from the royal pardon while in detention were 2,239 inmates who received sentence reductions or had some life sentences converted to fixed-term imprisonment. Meanwhile, 176 persons at liberty benefited from full or partial remission of sentences and fines.

In an exceptional expansion, His Majesty extended the pardon to include an additional 17,258 convicts chosen according to precise standards. The pardon included reductions in custodial sentences and fines, conversion of life sentences to fixed terms, and commutations of death sentences to life imprisonment.

Thus, the total number of beneficiaries of this royal pardon on this year’s Throne Day reached 19,673 individuals. This royal pardon affirms the values of tolerance, mercy, and humanity cherished by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Prayers are made for God to protect His Majesty, grant him a long life, and bless the Crown Prince His Royal Highness Moulay El Hassan along with all members of the royal family. Peace.
