Casablanca Court Sentences Mohamed Boudrika to Five Years Imprisonment for Fraud and Forgery

The Criminal Court of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca issued a ruling on Tuesday sentencing Mohamed Boudrika, former president of Raja Club Athletic and former president of the Mers Sultan district, to five years of imprisonment. Boudrika was tried on criminal charges related to financial crimes and document forgery.

The court also imposed a fine exceeding 650,000 Moroccan dirhams and banned him from issuing checks for one year, due to his involvement in issuing checks without sufficient funds—one of the serious charges he faced.

The case originated from multiple complaints filed by business partners and contractors who accused Boudrika of issuing bounced checks, involvement in fraud, forgery of private documents, unauthorized use of official administrative certificates, and employing them for illegal purposes.

Earlier, Boudrika fled to Germany after the judicial proceedings against him began, attempting to evade prosecution. However, Moroccan judicial authorities, in coordination with their German counterparts, tracked, arrested, and extradited him back to Morocco, where he underwent legal procedures before being brought before the court.

This verdict is among the most prominent cases involving well-known figures in the sports and political arenas, reflecting the Moroccan judiciary’s commitment to combating corruption and enforcing accountability regardless of the accused’s status.

During the sentencing session, Boudrika denied all charges, maintaining his innocence, particularly regarding forgery and fraud allegations. The judge ordered a technical examination of the disputed documents to verify their authenticity and declined to rely solely on witness testimonies.

It is noteworthy that Boudrika previously served as a deputy parliamentarian before being stripped of his mandate by a Constitutional Court ruling in January. He was arrested in Germany in July 2024 based on an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco and was handed over to Moroccan authorities in April 2025.
