National Union of Moroccan Press in Fez Expresses Concern Over Targeting of Journalist Colleagues

The Fez branch of the National Union of the Moroccan Press issued a statement on Friday, March 14, 2025, expressing deep concern over the repeated instances of journalist colleagues being targeted by some of their peers, in clear violation of the principles of respect and professional solidarity. The union emphasized that such practices tarnish the image of the press corps in the eyes of both local and national public opinion.

The statement highlighted that the union, which has consistently called for solidarity and unity among journalists in the city and region, finds itself compelled to remind everyone of the need to uphold the dignity of the profession and reject any behavior that turns professional occasions into opportunities for seeking “glory” by aggressively targeting colleagues.

The Fez branch expressed its solidarity with colleagues who are subjected to this reprehensible behavior, stressing that no one has the right to infringe upon the rights of others, including the case of colleague Mahboub Boussef. The statement noted that the repetition of such practices by certain individuals confirms a deliberate intent to undermine respectful relationships among journalists, necessitating a collective response to prevent the spread of this aberrant behavior.

The union called on all colleagues to unite in confronting these isolated actions, expressing its readiness to support any initiatives aimed at strengthening solidarity within the press corps and promoting values of unity over discord.
