The judicial police officers of the Inezgane security area, in coordination with their counterparts in Agadir, managed on Monday evening to arrest three people, including two women, suspected of being involved in the promotion of smuggled pharmaceutical substances that pose a danger to public health.

According to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security, the first suspect and her mother were caught inside a house in Inezgane, in the act of preparing and promoting mixtures of chemical and traditional substances that allegedly help in weight gain. The search operation resulted in the seizure of 19 kilograms of these substances, along with plastic containers intended for their packaging, as well as 1,000 smuggled medical tablets used for the same purpose.

Investigations led to the identification of the third suspect, the owner of an herbal shop, believed to be the main supplier of the seized items, who was arrested in Inezgane. A search inside his shop resulted in the seizure of 730 smuggled medical tablets, along with suppositories and products marketed as aphrodisiacs.

The arrested persons were subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to uncover all the circumstances of the case, within the framework of ongoing security efforts to combat the trafficking of illegal medicines and pharmaceuticals.
