In a move aimed at boosting commercial transportation between Morocco, Mauritania, and West African countries, Mauritanian authorities have announced a new law granting Moroccan drivers working in international road transport multiple-entry visas valid for three months.
This update to the visa law, which comes in response to a request from the Moroccan Embassy in Nouakchott, represents a positive shift from the previous requirement that Moroccan professional drivers obtain a new visa each time they entered Mauritanian territory, with a validity not exceeding one month.
The Moroccan Embassy, in a statement, called on professional drivers and international transportation companies to expedite their applications for the new visa through the Mauritanian electronic platform, emphasizing the need to indicate the “professional driver” status. The Embassy also expressed its deep gratitude to the Mauritanian authorities for their swift and positive response to this proposal.
This measure is expected to contribute to facilitating the movement of transport and the flow of goods between Morocco, Mauritania, and West African countries, and alleviate the burdens on Moroccan drivers working in this sector. The decision has been widely welcomed by drivers and actors in the transportation field.
