Local activists in the city of Mysore are calling for the dispatch of a central investigation committee to examine the conditions inside the regional hospital, in light of the continued deterioration of health services provided to patients, amid increasing complaints about the lack of quality and the spread of practices related to patronage and favoritism, especially in obtaining some basic services, including vaccines for children.
According to local sources, an investigative parliamentary report issued after a field visit to the hospital on December 10, 2020, revealed many imbalances, most notably poor administrative management, lack of beds, lack of necessary equipment, in addition to the instability of health staff, and the same sources confirmed that the situation has not seen a tangible improvement since then.
The file had previously sparked the anger of a number of civic actors, who called for a protest march to denounce the poor health services, but the authorities intervened to prevent it, which increased the state of tension among the population, which is still waiting for effective measures to improve the health sector in the region.
