Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita welcomed Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji in Rabat today, in a meeting that underscored the depth of strategic and historical relations between the two countries. During a joint press conference, Bourita emphasized that Moroccan-Iraqi relations are “strategic and historic, stemming from the strong bond between the two peoples”.
During the meeting, Al-Araji reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering position in support of Morocco’s territorial integrity regarding the Sahara issue. The Iraqi official emphasized that his country stands firmly and fully behind Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, reflecting the depth of political understanding between the two countries on this pivotal issue for the Kingdom of Morocco.
For his part, Bourita noted that relations between the two countries are now built on a “clear foundation, particularly in the realm of political dialogue”. These statements reflect the desire of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation and strengthen the historical ties of friendship that unite them.
This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to bolster diplomatic relations between Morocco and Iraq, and as a confirmation of the importance of joint coordination on various regional and international issues.
