During a public session dedicated to monthly oral questions addressed to the Prime Minister, held on December 16, 2024, in the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch shed light on various economic and social issues affecting citizens, with a particular focus on the government’s strategic direction to achieve sustainable development and meet the needs of the Moroccan people.
In his speech, Akhannouch confirmed that the government operates in line with the royal directives aimed at achieving comprehensive progress across various sectors, both economic and social. He discussed Morocco’s future vision in light of global economic transformations, emphasizing that Morocco has managed to maintain its economic stability despite current challenges, thanks to the reform policies adopted in recent years.
Akhannouch highlighted the importance of enhancing both local and foreign investment across economic sectors, considering it the best way to achieve sustainable growth. He explained that the government had taken several measures to improve the business environment, including streamlining administrative procedures, providing tax incentives for investors, and implementing major infrastructure projects that will contribute to strengthening Morocco’s economic competitiveness. He pointed out that hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup is a key step in this direction, stressing that these major sporting events will significantly attract investments in sectors such as tourism, transportation, modern technologies, and information technology.
Regarding the social aspect, Akhannouch confirmed that the government is focused on improving healthcare and educational services and raising citizens’ living standards. He mentioned a five-year program from 2024 to 2028 aimed at combating inadequate housing and improving living conditions for 120,000 Moroccan families through direct support and the rehabilitation of residential units. He also discussed a special program to enhance the infrastructure of Moroccan cities, including improving public transportation services, upgrading road networks, and focusing on preserving the environment and green spaces in urban areas. In this context, he emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing these projects through public-private partnerships to ensure sustainability and achieve the desired outcomes.
