During the General Secretariat meeting of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) on Saturday, November 23, 2024, Abdelilah Benkirane highlighted Morocco’s unwavering stance on major national issues. He reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause holds a special place for Morocco, equally important as the issue of the Southern Provinces.
Benkirane explained that this position reflects the wise vision of King Mohammed VI, who prioritizes both causes in his national and international policies. He emphasized Morocco’s continued commitment to its founding principles of defending the just rights of peoples.
In his speech, Benkirane noted that under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco has strengthened its role in supporting the Palestinian cause, both through its presidency of the Al-Quds Committee and through humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives that underscore its steadfast support for the Palestinian people. He stressed that Morocco’s position on Palestine reflects the values of solidarity and national principles that have shaped the country’s foreign policy.
Benkirane also took the opportunity to sharply criticize certain “suspicious” parties that he claimed are attempting to undermine national priorities and sow division. He stated that some are trying to exploit the Palestinian cause to advance their own agendas or to downplay the importance of the Southern Provinces issue. He emphasized that such rhetoric does not serve national interests and fails to represent the true spirit of political struggle.
Furthermore, Benkirane urged his party members to remain actively involved in political participation, stressing that disengaging from politics is not an option and would threaten national achievements. He added that political responsibility requires continued dedication and action, and that the General Secretariat is committed to fostering a positive spirit within the party and society.
In closing, Benkirane reiterated his full support for King Mohammed VI’s efforts to enhance Morocco’s regional and international standing, affirming that the Justice and Development Party will remain a strong pillar of support for these efforts. He concluded, “Our role as political actors is to be part of the solution and to safeguard the achievements Morocco has made thanks to its wise leadership.”
