The funeral of former Moroccan international player Abdelaziz Barrada was held on Wednesday in Douar Ait Abdellah in the Dades commune, Tinghir province, his family’s hometown.
The burial ceremony was attended by numerous personalities, including the deceased’s friends and relatives, village residents, the provincial governor, and several sports, political, and cultural figures, who came to bid farewell to the international player who passed away last Thursday at the age of 35 due to a heart attack.
Barrada’s body was repatriated to Morocco on Tuesday, following a funeral prayer held in Provins, France, where he was born and raised.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) had announced Barrada’s death on Thursday, expressing in a statement their “sincere condolences to the deceased’s family members, relatives, and the entire national football family in this painful loss.” The late player had represented the Moroccan national team 28 times and scored 4 goals.
Throughout his professional career, Barrada played for various European and Arab clubs, including Getafe CF (Spain), Olympique Marseille (France), Antalyaspor (Turkey), and Al-Jazira Club and Al Nasr Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
