In a humanitarian gesture reflecting Morocco’s commitment to enhancing health services, the Health and Social Protection Delegation of Boulemane Province, under the supervision of the Regional Health Directorate of Fes-Meknes, organized a free health caravan dedicated to eye surgery from October 26 to 31, 2024.
This initiative, supported by the International Eye Foundation and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, aims to provide quality medical services to the local population under the slogan “Eyes that See Hope.”
The health caravan targeted patients from various local communities, offering specialized medical examinations in ophthalmology.
During the first phase, the Center for Youth Capacities in Missour welcomed 4,930 beneficiaries, diagnosing 680 cases suffering from cataracts and conducting complementary examinations, including blood pressure and blood sugar tests, which identified 505 cases requiring surgical intervention.
The caravan then moved to the second phase, where cataract removal surgeries were performed for 482 cases at the El Messira Green Hospital in Missour.
Patients benefited from health education and necessary medications, contributing to improved quality of care provided to them.
This initiative is part of the “Light” volunteer program to combat blindness for 2024, aiming to reduce waiting times for examinations and surgical operations, especially in rural areas.
Beneficiaries expressed their immense happiness with this project, affirming that it gave them renewed hope in restoring their vision.
Through this, local and regional authorities continue to enhance the health infrastructure in Boulemane Province and provide support to citizens, contributing to the improvement of health quality in remote areas.
