In a new, high-profile operation that underscores the growing successes of Moroccan security forces, the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) provided precise intelligence that led to the foiling of an international drug trafficking operation.
The operation took place in the Khmis Oulad Hajj area, near the city of Safi, resulting in the dismantling of a criminal network involved in smuggling large quantities of hashish via sea routes.
In close cooperation between the DGST and the Royal Gendarmerie, authorities intercepted a truck carrying more than 1.765 tons of hashish, which was intended for smuggling abroad.
In addition to seizing the drugs, a large inflatable boat (Zodiac), two powerful engines, advanced communication devices, and substantial sums of money believed to be profits from previous smuggling activities were also confiscated.
This operation once again highlights the vigilance and effective coordination between various specialized agencies in combating international drug trafficking networks.
It reflects Morocco’s ongoing efforts to protect the country from cross-border criminal activities, while also strengthening internal and external security.
The DGST continues to demonstrate its high effectiveness in thwarting complex criminal operations, reinforcing public confidence in the nation’s security capabilities that ensure the safety and stability of Morocco.
